Compare with cell-free assays, recombinant cell lines enable researchers to study biological processes in a more natural biological system.

Luciferase Reporter Cell Lines

The signaling cell lines utilize the firefly luciferase reporter system, which contains the firefly luciferase gene downstream of a signaling pathway specific response element. Upon transcription factor binding to the response element, luciferase protein is transcribed. Luciferin is used as a substrate to give off light. The amount of light given off is proportional to the amount of luciferase that has been expressed in the cells.

We also offer recombinant cell lines for studying ion channels, ion transporters, phosphodiesterases, and G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). All of our cell lines have been extensively validated and tested for viability and biological activity before shipping.
